Eiko is a Belly Dance artist and instructor based in Bloomington, IN. Through her studies she fell in love with Egyptian Style Belly Dance. Her energy and enthusiasm is reflected in her teaching and performances.
With a background of ballet and jazz, dance has always been a part of her life. In 1999, she started taking Belly Dance classes and fell in love. She has traveled to many workshops and seminars to further her studies with instructors all over the US and Canada. She loves to dance and finds inspiration in all dance styles.
Her passion for Middle Eastern Dance led to teaching workshops and classes. She had the opportunity to be an instructor at Arabesque Dance Academy and the North York Seniors Centre in Toronto, ON. Eiko was a recipient of the Individual Artist grant from the Indiana Arts Commission in 2017 for further study in Belly Dance and a recipient of the Arts Start-Up Program from the Buskirk-Chumley Theater in 2016 for Shimmy Con. During the 2020 Spring semester at Indiana University, she will be an apprentice dancer in the African American Dance Company. Currently she teaches at Caliente Fitness in Bloomington, IN.
